Research overview

The notion of alterity or Otherness is at the centre of my work and I approach it by looking at a certain number of spaces of encounter (what I would call in French “des espaces de rencontres”) created within and by means of writing. I try to show and to make explicit how literature and different literary genres function as spaces of encounter. My current book-length project analyses the multiple meanings of the French word partage, that is, ‘sharing’ and ‘sharing out’ (as in distributing, partitioning or dividing..., etc.), in relation to  literature. The book addresses readings by twentieth and twenty first century French philosophers, primarily Jean-Luc Nancy and Jacques Rancière, of the early German Romanticism of the Jena group, and its treatment of the fragment.
