WWI: The Far, Far from Ypres Project has been created through collaboration between Great War Dundee, Poppyscotland Learning and WW100 Scotland. The Project is a legacy of Ian McCalman’s award-winning multi-media production of the same name. Featuring songs and stories from the Great War it is a rich source of information about the conflict and its impact on Scotland.

These learning resources are intended to build on themes covered in the production, and in the SQA National 5 and Higher courses (Historical Study: Scottish) ‘The Era of the Great War, 1900-1928’ and ‘The Impact of the Great War, 1914-18’. The resources are grouped by the four main content areas identified by each course, with learning materials covering key issues. Each content area includes short videos featuring experts discussing essential topics and introducing contested themes, with relevant excerpts from the stage show, and linked source extracts to help students analyse and contextualise historical sources, a specific skills focus of these units.
