Research overview

Professor Aaron Quigley is the Chair of Human Computer Interaction and Deputy Head of School in Computer Science in the University of St Andrews in Scotland. He is co-founder and director of SACHI, the St Andrews Computer Human Interaction research group. His research interests include surface and multi-display computing, human computer interaction, pervasive and ubiquitous computing and information visualisation on which he has delivered over 50 invited talks.
Aaron is a convenor of the ACM Future of Computing Academy, ACM SIGCHI Vice President of Conferences, a board member of ScotlandIS and member of the MobileHCI steering committee.
His research and development has been supported by the AHRC, DSTL, JISC, SFC, NDRC, EU FP7/FP6, SFI, Smart Internet CRC, NICTA, Wacom, IBM, Intel, Microsoft and MERL. He has published over160internationally peer-reviewed publications (see ORCID) including edited volumes, journal papers, book chapters, conference and workshop papers and holds 3 patents. He has held academic and industry appointments in Australia, Japan, USA, Germany, Ireland and the UK. 

During his time in St Andrews he has served on the teaching and research ethics committee, knowledge exchange group committee and the Science/Medicine promotions panel. From 2012 - 2014, he was the deputy director and director for knowledge exchange for SICSA, the Scottish Informatics and Computer Science Alliance. He was the inaugural editor-in-chief for the journal Computers from 2011 - 2015. Since joining St Andrews he has held the following conference organisation roles:
