Research overview

I am a comparative legal historian specialised in the history of constitutionalism and jurisprudence. My research explores the deep and often overlooked relations connecting eighteenth century legal thought to early modern and medieval jurisprudence. From this vantage point, my work questions the distinction between common and civil law, highlighting instead the unifying features of the Western legal tradition as a whole. In such pursuit, I have established strong international ties with academic and scholarly institutions both in Europe (in Italy, Germany, and in the United Kingdom) and in the United States.
