Research overview

I am currently studying as a PhD Candidate at the Handa Centre for the Study of Terrorism and Political Violence (CSTPV) through the School of International Relations at the University of St Andrews.

The topic I am exploring through my research is "Developing a Methodological Framework for the Evaluation of the UK's Counter-terrorism Strategy". I will use a mixed-methods approach to my research. The first phase will be an exploratory qualitative phase through database review and interviews. Following an analysis of this phase, I will then move on to a quantitative phase, where I envisage the creation of a quantitative tool such as a survey and statistical testing on the results of this step. My research is developed in this way in an effort to address the lacuna in the area of empirical counter-terrorism policy evaluation.

I also carry out research on issues such as ISIS, immigration and radicalisation. Generally these are explored in connection with counter-terrorism strategies.
