Research overview

Under the supervision of Gavin Hopps, my current research focuses on the intersection of theology, philosophy, and film. Particularly, I’m exploring the oeuvre of Belgium filmmakers Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne via the hermeneutics of Paul Ricoeur, suggesting that the Dardennes' films are post-secular cinematic parables. In crafting a theological aesthetics of cinema, I’m interested in how movies affect and inform the viewer’s theological and moral imagination; how film can truly do theology, not merely depict it.

My research interests and areas of expertise include:

  • Theology and Culture
  • Theological Aesthetics
