Research overview

My primary research interest is loneliness, specifically developing effective methods to identify, and interventions to alleviate, this widespread and distressing public health problem.

I am also interested in wider wellbeing and mental health, health promotion, health behaviour change, healthcare professional behaviour change, and social prescribing, and in developing, implementing and evaluating interventions/services to improve health and wellbeing.

I am experienced in the design and conduct of several different types of research, including evidence synthesis, intervention/service development and implementation, mixed method evaluation, qualitative studies, and Randomised Controlled Trials (feasibility and full), and in a variety of health areas, including cancer care, cardiac rehabilitation, intensive care, alcohol consumption, obesity, physical activity, paediatric dentistry, primary care and NHS staff wellbeing.
