Research overview

I am interested in corporate accountability for human rights and human rights due diligence. As a Research Fellow at the School of Management, I undertake research on corporate human rights benchmarking and the impact and influence of intermediaries in business and human rights regulation.

I obtained my PhD in 2021, and my thesis focused on a critical analysis of corporate implementation of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs). Drawing on a novel framing of the social and relational practice of accountability, this research investigated how human rights are translated and legitimised in the corporate space and the transformations that occur during this process. It also demonstated the productive power of external experts in corporate human rights implementation.

I have published a range of reports on issues of climate change and human rights, modern slavery, and the unpacking the 'business case' for human rights.

I hold an MRes in Management from St Andrews, and LLM in Business and Human Rights and LLB both from Queen’s University, Belfast.
