Research at St Andrews

Meredith Marie Schertzinger

Research overview

I am an interdisciplinary PhD student co-supervised by Dr. Gozde Ozakinci (School of Medicine) and Dr. Fergus Neville (School of Management). My research looks at the interplay of group processes with intial exercise enjoyment and long term exercise adherence.

During the COVID-19 lockdown gyms, running groups, and other forms of collective exercise were prohibited. My 1st study, Running During Lockdown: A Survey of Experiences, examined the physical and mental impact a lack of group activity had on runners within the UK.
