Research overview

My primary research interests are in observational studies of close, or interacting, binary stars of many different types, with substantial contributions to the following topics: the evolution of massive binary stars from the zero-age main sequence through semi-detached states to massive x-ray binaries, and through contact states to possible merging; the evolution of low-mass magnetically-active binary stars from the ZAMS through contact (W~UMa-type) states to merging (and blue stragglers?); the evolution of post-common-envelope-binaries from the planetary nebula stage through the pre-cataclysmic-variable-star stage to cataclysmic variables.
