Research at St Andrews

Sarah Insia Huque

Research overview

My PhD research focusses on disability advocacy in Malawi, specifically through the work of the Federation of Disability Organizations in Malawi (FEDOMA). My work uses a structuration theory-lens to investigate voice and communication between FEDOMA's central organisation and the grassroots advocates working at a district level. My PhD research uses a variety of methods, including: systematic reviewing, Delphi methodology, in-depth interviewing, autoethnography and participant observation.

I am currently beginning work as a Research Assistant on the HATUA project on antimicrobial resistance.

I recently worked as a Research Assistant on a project on trade unionism in Malawi and Scotland in partnership with colleagues at Heriot-Watt University and from the Malawi Congress of Trade Unions.
