Redox front processes in rocks are important in the context of both radioactive waste disposal and the development of orebodies. A study is reported of uranium and thorium distributions and natural decay series disequilibrium abut a redox front in a granite from southwest Scotland. The results are placed in the context of large-scale aqueous transport of uranium in the region and are compared with those obtained in a previous study of redox front processes in phonolitic rocks in Brazil. -from Authors
