Abstract

In this paper we review the possible driving forces behind the ageing on conductivity and short-range ordering in the defect cubic fluorite structured zirconia from a chemistry point of view and we show our latest breakthrough on the extraordinarily improved stability of the zirconia based (Mg,In) co-doped scandia stabilized zirconia. We also look into some cubic structured rare-earth titanites, especially Yb2TiO5 which also hold the defect fluorite structure, as potential candidates for the SOFC electrolyte.
